Closing Bell: Stocks extend gains after an early wobble

December 4, 2019 (MLN): After yesterday’s futile performance of the stock market, today’s gains marked the index on the greener side. However, the market took a dip and fell by 129 points during the session.

At the end of the trading session, the KSE-100 index recorded a positive close of 481 points to settle at 40,270 level.

The Index traded in a range of 643.27 points or 1.62 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 40,307.53 and a low of 39,664.26.

Of the 96 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 81 closed up 11 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 240.10 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 124 points, Cement with 69 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 53 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 28 points and Pharmaceuticals with 27 points.

The most points added to the index was by PSO which contributed 41 points followed by LUCK with 34 points, MCB with 32 points, UBL with 31 points and DGKC with 17 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Food & Personal Care Products with 2 points and Leather & Tanneries with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by ENGRO which stripped the index of 18 points followed by KEL with 4 points, NATF with 4 points, NESTLE with 3 points and HASCOL with 2 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 55.73 Million to 393.15 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.82.33 Billion.

Total companies traded were 401 compared to 392 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 294 closed up, 87 closed down while 20 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 19,852 to 113,192.

Value Traded increased by 0.38 Billion to Rs.14.81 Billion
