Closing Bell - PSX-100 sheds 217.66 points, declines by 0.48 percent

KSE-100 ended the session at 45418.70 points after losing -217.66 points. The KSE-100 index dropped 0.48percent in the intraday activity. The market was up in the few hours of the day gaining more than 150 points at noon. But took a tumble then onwards and settled at 45418.70 points on the closing bell.

According to a Senior Analyst at JS Global Capital “Market is suffering from lack of clarity; with the JIT and Supreme Court proceedings and political noise the market is witnessing a limited activity”

“Valuations are very attractive at the moment, yesterday's (18th July +1113.5 points) support can be attributed to value buying in the market as the index has fallen more than 7percent in the incumbent year. Prices are very lucrative at the present moment”

Commenting on the uncertain time with respect to the market, he said “The market is moving within a limited range and the limited activity which only goes on to show the lack of participation from investors who are holding back with the political future of the country hanging in balance.”

Observing the Monetary Policy to be announced on Saturday, he said, “We forecast a status-quo in Central Bank's stance in the next policy announcement.”

Market lost a total of -217.66 points or a decline of -0.48% during today's session. The index touched an intra-day low of 45297.15 points, a high of 45808.80 and closed at a tally of 45418.70 points.

The net gainers by price during today's session were; Phillip Morris Pakistan PMPK +132.25, Wyeth Pakistan WYETH +107.94, Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan COLG +99.00, Sapphire Textiles Mills SAPT +93.07 and Indus Motor Company INDU +45.35.

The net decliners by price during today's session were; Bata Pakistan BATA -50.00, Bhanero Textile Mills BHAT -42.75, Khyber Tobacco Company KHTC -38.71, Services Industries Limited SRVI -25.00 and Packages Limited PKGS -24.83.

All Share Volume increased by 7.2 Million to 165.51 Million Shares.

Total companies traded were 361 compared to 363 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 148 closed up, 200 closed down while 13 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 5,534 to 76,200.

Value Traded decreased by 64.72 Billion to Rs.8.94 Billion
