Closing Bell: KSE-100 index ends 221 pts higher in volatile trade

December 10, 2019 (MLN): The stock market today witnessed volatile trading session as it swayed back and forth throughout the session and ultimately closed the trading at 40,664 points by gaining 221 points or 0.55 per cent up from previous day’s close.

The Index traded in a range of 439.69 points or 1.09 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 40,699.33 and a low of 40,259.64.

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 61 closed up 30 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 157.14 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 51 points, Pharmaceuticals with 27 points, Commercial Banks with 25 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 25 points and Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 20 points.

The most points added to the index was by LUCK which contributed 29 points followed by POL with 27 points, UBL with 21 points, NESTLE with 19 points and PSO with 13 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Glass & Ceramics with 2 points and Leather & Tanneries with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by OGDC which stripped the index of 10 points followed by HUBC with 10 points, PSMC with 7 points, NATF with 6 points and BAFL with 5 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 65.46 Million to 254.62 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.48.46 Billion.

Total companies traded were 375 compared to 388 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 189 closed up, 161 closed down while 25 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 14,415 to 91,334.

Value Traded decreased by 2.17 Billion to Rs.9.22 Billion
