Closing Bell: KSE-100 down amidst heightened activity; down by 0.02%

KSE-100 index started the day with a rally prompted by fertilizer stocks as prices for Urea Spot rose in the international markets. FFC (+4.97%), EFERT (+3.90%), DAWH (+2.01%), FATIMA (+3.01%) and FFBL (+2.66%) saw heavy gains during the session as prices for Urea Spot went up by 9%.

On the contrary, Healthcare, Consumer Discretionary and financials were major losers during the day with major lapses coming from; ABOT (-3.02%), SHFA (-1.14%), CSAP (-4.17%), HCAR (- 1.43%), THALL (-1.36%), NML (-0.99%), NBP (-5%), UBL (-1.48%) and MCB (-0.93%).

KSE-100 Index participation inclined to 67.65 million shares up from 52.08 million shares yesterday (last session).

According to data released by State Bank of Pakistan on September, 20th 2017, Total Foreign Investment in Pakistan increased by 37.1% or 81.6 million US$ (Absolute Value) during the first two months (July-Aug) of Fiscal Year of 2017.

Break-up of the total reveals a fantastic surge in direct private investment, up by 155% during the first two months of fiscal year 2017.

Meanwhile, portfolio investments have negative a steep negative decline since local markets have fallen prey to uncertain political conditions across the country. Pakistan witnessed a -358.3% downward trend in Equity securities.

The company informed that, the joint venture of Tando Allah Yar Block, comprising Oil & Gas Development Co. Ltd. (OGDCL) as operator (95%) & Government Holdings (Pvt.) ltd. (5%) has discovered gas and condensate from its exploratory Well Tando Allah Yar South West # 01, which is located in district Hyderabad, Sindh province. The company informed that the structure of Tando Allah Yar South West # 01 was drilled and tested using OGDCL’s in house expertise, dug to a depth of 3250 meters. The well has tested 10 MMSCFD of gas and 72 BPD of condensate through 32/64’’ choke at wellhead flowing pressure of 2440 Psi from “Massive Sands” of lower guru formation.

KSE-100 Index at the day lost a total of 6.55 points down by 0.02%, closing at 42743.65 points. Index Volume was 67.64 million shares, value of shares traded was PKR 5.6 billion with index low-high range of 422628.37 – 43087.07.

124 companies closed up, whereas 218 were down at the day end.
