Closing Bell: Another few steps in green

Sep 11, 2019 (MNL): After a long break, the first working day of a short trading week started off well in the stock market by gaining 487 points and closing at 30,954 level. Investors expected some positive results from ongoing FATF meeting in Bangkok and an increase in international oil prices.

The Index traded in a range of 555.46 points or 1.82 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 31,019.43 and a low of 30,463.97.

Of the 91 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 41 closed up 47 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 78.81 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 207 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 163 points, Fertilizer with 81 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 67 points and Automobile Assembler with 8 points.

The most points added to the index was by HBL which contributed 87 points followed by OGDC with 77 points, PPL with 68 points, HUBC with 65 points and MCB with 46 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Cement with 33 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 17 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 4 points, Engineering with 4 points and Insurance with 4 points.

The most points taken off the index was by LUCK which stripped the index of 11 points followed by NESTLE with 9 points, FCCL with 8 points, DGKC with 7 points and MUREB with 6 points.

All Share Volume increased by 51.46 Million to 99.66 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.51.57 Billion.

Total companies traded were 346 compared to 300 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 142 closed up, 184 closed down while 20 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 21,753 to 44,014.

Value Traded increased by 2.51 Billion to Rs.4.94 Billion
