China Railway Construction assures speedy implementation of ML-1 and KCR projects

September 18, 2018 (MLN): VP China Railway Construction Company Limited Mr. Yang Jinjun on Monday said that the state owned company will be exploring opportunities to jointly work with the federal and provincial governments on the speedy implementation of the ML-1 and Karachi Circular Railway projects.

Mr. Yang Jinjun called on Secretary Planning Mr. Zafar Hassan in his office on Monday to discuss investment opportunities offered by Special Economic Zones being implemented under CPEC.

He also hinted to work towards the establishment of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), especially in Islamabad, as they will be more advantageous because of their prime location, rich human resource and the availability of an R&D Sector.

During the meeting, further emphasis was placed on the need for Chinese firms to ensure capacity building of the local manpower by providing them with on job training and employment.

Mr. Zafar Hassan, Secretary Planning assured full support of Ministry of Planning Development and Reform for all the CPEC projects.

He stated that ML1 project has a number of stations, which can be monetized to generate finances for the project.

However, he said that for any new projects, government of Pakistan would be interested in public private partnerships and with a more innovative approach for financially feasible projects.

He also assured that the government of Pakistan is paying a serious attention towards having SEZs established on a fast track basis.
