China leads FDI in Pakistan with net inflow of $45m in July

August 19, 2024 (MLN): China emerged as the largest investor in Pakistan in July 2024, with a net direct investment of $45.06 million, according to the data issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The next in line were Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, which invested $42.45m and $22.28m, respectively.

Conversely, Norway recorded the highest divestment at $11.36m, followed by the Netherlands and Canada, which divested $3.4m and $2.1m, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Private Portfolio Investment (FPI), which represents an investment in the equity market (both direct and indirect) during July stood at a positive $23.6m.

Sweden emerged as the biggest portfolio investor during the month, as it invested $23.96m.
