CCoE likely to extend deadline for refinery upgrade agreements

July 05, 2024 (MLN): The Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE), in its meeting which is scheduled to be held today, at 1430 hours, is likely to extend the deadline for signing upgrade agreements for existing/brownfield refineries 2023.

The aforementioned agenda will be presented by the Petroleum Ministry.

Additionally, the committee will discuss and approve the circular debt report for February 2024, which will be tabled by the Power Ministry.

The standard security agreements for small hydro-power projects under Power Generation Policy 2015 will also be reviewed by the committee.

Moving forward, the CCoE will also discuss the illegal spectrum of goods, including incentive mechanisms for recovering electricity arrears over two years and addressing electricity theft from private consumers.

Last but not least, the CCoE will review and discuss the agenda for strengthening management in Distribution Companies (DISCOs) and establishing the Disco Support Unit (DSU).
