Caretaker government taps Waqar Masood as Advisor Finance

August 17, 2023 (MLN): The Caretaker government has appointed Former finance secretary Waqar Masood as Advisor to Finance.

The finalization of cabinet appointments was carried out by caretaker prime minister Anwaar-ul-Haq on Thursday wherein the 18-member cabinet took the oath to assume their roles.

Dr. Waqar Masood Khan, former Federal Secretary for Finance Division, is an eminent economist with wide-ranging experience in both public and private sectors.

He has held several prestigious positions in the Federal Government including Special Secretary to the Prime Minister, Secretary of Finance Division, Secretary of Economic Affairs Division, Secretary Petroleum & Natural Resources, and Secretary of Textile Industry.

Apart from having several institutional and personal publications to his credit, he has authored two books on the subject of the elimination of Riba (interest) from the economy.

He served on the Boards of Directors of many local and international financial and banking institutions including the State Bank of Pakistan, National Bank of Pakistan, and Islamic Development Bank, and has also represented Pakistan as the alternate Governor in IMF, World Bank, and Asian Development Bank.
