Business leaders meet PM Khaqan Abbasi in Karachi

Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, leader of business community while representing FPCCI met new Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at Governor House Karachi with the prominent industrialists and leaders of the business community.

Dr. Baig informed the Prime Minister that former prime minister promised Pakistan to sign FTA with Turkey in May-June 2017 but still it is pending.

He requested new PM to consider the FTA with Turkey on most priority basis which will boost our textile exports. He also requested to finalize the amnesty scheme to declare or bring back the foreign investments to Pakistan and a formal proposal has been already submitted to the PM by the committee chaired by Governor Sindh.

He urged Government to supply cheaper electricity to the industry at affordable rates to compete with our regional competitors. He draw the attention of the Prime Minister on the alarming increase in trade deficit due to declining exports and increase in imports which will deplete foreign reserves and will put pressure on Pak rupee parity.
