December 18, 2024 (MLN): Pakistan's revised trade deficit for November increased to $1.685 billion, up from $1.58bn in the previous month, marking a 6.24% rise, according to revised data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Similarly, the trade deficit has dropped 13.68% compared to November 2023's deficit of $2.174bn.

The balance of trade figures cumulative from July – November, 2024 (FY2024-25) was (-)2,432.5 million in terms of Rupees and (-)8,746mn in US dollars.

Exports increased by 10.10% to $2.833bn compared to $2.573bn in November 2023.

Conversely, imports in November 2024 fell 1.09% to $4.518bn compared to $4.568bn in the previous month.

According to the provisional figures compiled by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, exports from Pakistan during November, 2024 amounted to Rs787.152 bn (provisional) as against Rs828.052 bn in October, 2024 and Rs734.504 bn during November, 2023 showing a decrease of 4.94% over October, 2024 but an increase of 7.17% over November, 2023.

Main commodities of exports during November, 2024 were Knitwear (Rs114,997mn), Rice others (Rs104.754bn), Readymade garments (Rs91.306bn), Bed wear (Rs70.653bn), Cotton cloth (Rs37.899bn), Sugar (Rs24.578bn), Towels (Rs23.694bn), Cotton yarn (Rs22.393bn), Madeup articles (excl towels & bedwear) (Rs17.543bn) and Basmati rice (Rs15.085bn).

Imports into Pakistan during November, 2024 amounted to Rs1.2552bn (provisional) as against Rs1.2682 bn in October, 2024 and Rs1.2919 bn during November, 2023 showing a decrease of 1.03% over October, 2024 and of 2.85% over November, 2023.

Main commodities of imports during November, 2024 were Petroleum products (Rs175.763bn), Petroleum crude (Rs118.744bn), Natural gas liquified (LNG) (Rs65.864bn), Palm oil (Rs65.449bn), Plastic materials (Rs59.114bn), Iron & steel (Rs45.237bn), Mobile phones (Rs41.498bn), Electrical machinery & apparatus (Rs41.442bn), Raw cotton (Rs31.360bn) and Liquified Petroleum gas (LPG) (Rs30.582bn).
