Banks’ deposits increase by 23% YoY to Rs27.7tr in December

January 08, 2024 (MLN): The total deposits held by scheduled banks have moved up by 23.2% YoY to Rs27.68 trillion in December 2023 compared to Rs22.47tr in December 2022.

According to the weekly data maintained by SBP, banks' deposits have risen by 3.29% MoM, compared to Rs26.8tr in November 2023.

Total advances increased by 3.65% to Rs12.35tr compared to Rs11.91tr from a year ago. On a monthly basis, advances increased by 3.2% from their value of Rs11.96tr in November 2023.

Advances to Deposit Ratio (ADR) stood at 44.61% showing a decrease of 8.42% on a yearly basis, while showing a decrease of 4 bps on a monthly basis.

Total Investments of Scheduled Banks stood at Rs25.54tr compared to Rs17.9tr from a year ago and Rs24.59tr from a month ago, showing a YoY increase of 42.67% and a MoM increase of 3.88%.

Investment to Deposit Ratio (IDR) moved up by 12.59% to 92.27% compared to December 2022 and increased by 52 bps when compared to a month ago.
