Attock Refinery profit plunges 71%

October 18, 2024 (MLN): Attock Refinery Limited's (PSX: ATRL) profit slumped 71% in the third quarter of 2024 as its margins eroded.

The company earned a profit after tax of Rs3.03 billion [EPS: Rs31.22] in the quarter ending September 2024, compared to a profit of Rs11.22bn [EPS: Rs107.53] recorded in the same period last year (SPLY).

Its revenue plunged 25.3% to Rs80.62bn from Rs107.85bn in SPLY. Gross profit plummeted 89.4% to Rs1.78bn in Q3 2024.

The gross margins worsened to 2.2% as compared to 15.6% in SPLY.

On the tax front, the company paid an effective tax rate of 38.5% as compared to 39.0% in SPLY.
