June 22, 2025 (MLN): In a dramatic escalation of tensions in the Middle East, the United States has launched powerful airstrikes targeting Iran's key nuclear facilities, joining an Israeli-led offensive.

This attack marked a sharp escalation in the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, drawing global attention to the growing instability in the region.

President Donald Trump confirmed the overnight assault, which targeted Iran’s critical nuclear infrastructure in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan using advanced bunker-busting bombs.

Describing the strikes as a “spectacular military success,” Trump warned Tehran against retaliation, saying any response would invite even more devastating attacks.

The strikes come amid an already raging conflict between Iran and Israel, which began on June 13 after Israel carried out a surprise blitz on Iranian nuclear and military assets.

Since then, Iran has retaliated with multiple missile attacks on Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv, where recent strikes have left several people wounded and infrastructure damaged.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth called the joint action with Israel “bold and brilliant,” claiming that the Iranian nuclear program has been “devastated.”

He added, “No other country except the United States could have carried this out.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the U.S. intervention as a betrayal of diplomacy and a grave breach of international law.

He warned that the attacks would have “everlasting consequences,” stating that Iran reserves all rights to defend its sovereignty and people.

Despite vows of revenge, Iran has so far avoided striking U.S. bases or disrupting global oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway through which nearly a quarter of the world’s oil passes.

With both the U.S. and Israel now actively involved in military operations against Iran, the spectre of a full-blown regional war looms large, raising concerns over global oil supplies, diplomatic fallout, and humanitarian consequences across the Middle East.
