Tax offices to open on Saturday for month-end revenue collection

November 27, 2025 (MLN): The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed all Large Taxpayer Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayer Offices (MTOs), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs) and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) across the country to remain open on Saturday, November 29, 2025, treating it as a regular working day, according to the Press Release. 

The decision aims to ensure the timely collection of duties and taxes as the November closing approaches, a period critical for meeting revenue targets amid persistent fiscal pressures.

Traditionally, the final days of each month see heightened taxpayer activity, and additional working hours are used to clear pending filings and payments.

The instruction applies to all FBR field formations, which will operate with full staff strength to facilitate taxpayers seeking to complete monthly or quarterly obligations.

The move came as Pakistan continues efforts to strengthen tax administration, broaden the revenue base, and reduce reliance on borrowing.

FBR has struggled in recent years to meet ambitious collection targets set under fiscal consolidation plans, making month-end operations crucial for narrowing shortfalls.

This extended working day is expected to support tax collection from major sectors, including manufacturing, services, corporate entities, and large taxpayers, categories that contribute a significant share to federal revenue.
