August 19, 2026 (MLN): Tri-Pack Films Limited (PSX: TRIPF) staged a powerful financial turnaround for the half-year ended June 30, 2026 (1HCY26), reporting a net profit of Rs361.63m.

This represents a complete recovery from the net loss of Rs468.20m recorded in the corresponding period last year.

Reflecting this sharp return to profitability, the company's basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) turned positive at Rs9.32, compared to a loss per share (LPS) of Rs12.07 in 1HCY25.

The primary catalyst behind this turnaround was strong top-line revenue growth accompanied by a sharp expansion in gross margins.

Net revenue from contracts with customers increased by 19% year-on-year to Rs17.28bn, up from Rs14.51bn.

Although the cost of sales grew by 13% to Rs14.19bn, revenue growth outpaced production expenses, enabling TRIPF to expand its gross profit by 60% to Rs3.09bn compared to Rs1.93bn in 1HCY25.

On the operational front, overheads expanded to support higher business activity.

Distribution costs rose 44% to Rs792.38m, while administrative expenses grew 37% to Rs536.48m.

However, the company received support from a positive reversal of Rs13.48m in expected credit loss provisions (reversing a charge of Rs26.37m last year).

Consequently, operating profit nearly doubled, jumping 86% to Rs1.77bn.

Below the operating line, TRIPF benefited from a multi-fold boost in secondary income alongside reduced debt-servicing costs.

"Other income" surged by 3.55x to Rs613.70m (up from Rs172.65m), while net finance costs fell 10% to Rs1.26bn.

Supported by these non-operating factors, profit before taxation turned around to Rs847.55m (reversing a pre-tax loss of Rs287.98m).

After absorbing a higher net income tax burden of Rs485.92m and a levy charge of Rs227.82m, Tri-Pack Films Limited securely closed the six-month period firmly back in the black with a final net profit of Rs361.63m.
