Sapphire Chemicals to set up 220,000-ton Soda Ash plant

October 29, 2025 (MLN): Sapphire Chemicals (Private) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sapphire Textile Mills Limited, has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art soda ash manufacturing facility with an annual production capacity of 220,000 tons.

According to the company, the project will utilize locally available raw materials and is expected to deliver strong financial returns once operational.

Contracts with the plant and machinery supplier as well as the civil works contractor have already been executed, with construction expected to take two years and completion targeted by the end of 2027.

The financial close of the project is in its final stages, as financing terms have been agreed with a consortium of banks.

In a meeting held on October 29, 2025, the Board of Directors of Sapphire Textile Mills Limited approved the equity contribution and sponsors’ support documents required for the project’s execution.

In parallel, Sapphire Textile announced that it will streamline its spinning operations by closing down uneconomic and outdated spindles that do not align with its value-added business strategy.

The company stated that this move will enable it to reallocate resources toward sustainable growth and further strengthen its integration with the value-added textile segment.
