Abbott Pakistan profit surges 36% to Rs5bn in 9MCY25

October 29, 2025 (MLN): Abbott Laboratories (Pakistan) Limited (PSX: ABOT) reported a net profit of Rs5.37bn for the nine months ended September 30, 2025, up 36% from Rs3.95bn in the corresponding period last year.

Earnings per share increased 36% to Rs54.81 compared to Rs40.34 in 9MCY24.

Net sales rose 13% year-on-year to Rs56.23bn from Rs49.56bn, driven by robust domestic demand. Local sales grew 14% to Rs53.91bn from Rs47.27bn, while export sales increased marginally by 1% to Rs2.32bn from Rs2.29bn.

Cost of sales increased 4% to Rs36.89bn from Rs35.49bn, resulting in a gross profit surge of 37% to Rs19.34bn against Rs14.07bn in 9MCY24.

Selling and distribution expenses climbed 19% to Rs8.50bn from Rs7.12bn last year. Administrative expenses rose 13% to Rs972.5m from Rs857.4m in the prior period.

Other charges more than doubled, increasing 117% to Rs1.26bn from Rs578.9m in 9MCY24. Other income grew 12% to Rs603.3m from Rs541.1m.

Profit before taxation increased 52% to Rs9.16bn from Rs6.04bn in 9MCY24.

Minimum tax differential rose 68% to Rs147.0m from Rs87.3m. Profit after taxation stood at Rs9.01bn, up 51% from Rs5.95bn last year.

The company concluded 9MCY25 with a net profit of Rs5.37bn.

The strong profit growth was primarily driven by a 14% expansion in local sales and improved gross margins despite higher distribution costs, showing Abbott's solid market position in Pakistan's pharmaceutical sector and effective cost management strategies during the period.
