Qatar indicates ‘Whole Region’ backing Pakistan’s mediator role

April 15, 2026 (MLN): Amid intensifying regional diplomacy efforts, Qatar stated that “the whole region” is engaged in supporting Pakistan’s mediation initiative aimed at ending the U.S.-Israel conflict involving Iran.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al Ansari said that communication continues with partners in Islamabad, where Pakistan is leading the mediation process.

He added that Qatar “applauds and supports” the initiative by Pakistan, noting that Doha’s role is currently focused on support and broader regional coordination rather than direct mediation.

The spokesperson said regional coordination is underway and reiterated backing for diplomatic efforts led by Islamabad to ease escalating tensions, according to an X post by Doha news.

Recently, Pakistan-Qatar relations saw renewed focus on strengthening cooperation in the education sector, with both sides agreeing to expand collaboration in technical and vocational education and training (TVET), skill development initiatives, and academic exchange programs.
