Pakistan, Sudan eye cooperation in trade, investment

November 06, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan desires to further strengthen bilateral relations with Sudan, particularly in trade and investment, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said, noting that vast opportunities exist for cooperation in agriculture, defence, education and other sectors.

He said Pakistan attaches immense importance to its longstanding and fraternal ties with Sudan and wishes to see the country overcome its current crisis and emerge as a peaceful, stable and prosperous nation.

He made these remarks while meeting Sudanese Interior Minister Lieutenant General Babiker Samra Mustafa Ali, who called on him in Islamabad, said a press release issued.

Welcoming the visiting dignitary, the prime minister said Pakistan highly values Sudan’s cooperation at the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the G-77 and other multilateral forums.

The Sudanese interior minister thanked the prime minister and the government for the warm welcome and hospitality extended during his visit.

He also expressed gratitude for the humanitarian and medical assistance provided by the Pakistani government and people to Sudan during its difficult circumstances, and appreciated Pakistan’s support at international forums for efforts to restore peace and stability in the country.

He also praised Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and mediation efforts.
