July 14, 2025 (MLN): Petrol prices are expected to increase by approximately Rs3–5 per litre, with revised rates likely to be effective from July 16 to 31, 2025, amid global oil market fluctuations and domestic fiscal adjustments.

The federal government is expected to announce a notable increase in petroleum product prices on the night of July 15, 2025, following upward trends in the global energy market and currency fluctuations.

To recall, the federal government raised the price of petrol by Rs8.36 to Rs266.79 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs10.39 to Rs272.98 per litre, effective July 1, 2025, citing international crude oil fluctuations.

A Rs2.50 per litre carbon levy was introduced on MS while the petroleum levy was reduced by the same amount, keeping the overall levy impact neutral, and the sales tax remained unchanged at zero.
