Govt hikes petrol price by Rs8.36, diesel by Rs10.39 per litre

July 01, 2025 (MLN): The federal government has raised the price of petrol by Rs8.36 per litre to Rs266.79 for the next fortnight, effective July 1, 2025, according to a Monday notification issued by the Finance Division.
Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs10.39, bringing it to Rs272.98 per litre from the previous Rs262.59.
The Finance Division cited fluctuations in international crude oil prices as the reason for the adjustment.
As part of the latest adjustment, a carbon levy of Rs2.50 per litre has been introduced on MS, while the Petroleum Levy has been reduced by the same amount, keeping the overall levy impact neutral.
The sales tax on petroleum products remains unchanged at zero.
The new fuel prices will remain in effect from July 1 to July 15, 2025.
Earlier, on June 16, the government had raised petrol prices by Rs4.80 per litre and HSD by Rs7.95.
