Petrol prices likely to go up by Rs6 from July 1st

June 30, 2021 (MLN): Amid higher international oil prices, the prices of petroleum products may go up by Rs6 per litre from July 1^st, 2021, as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has sent a summary to the Petroleum Division, on Tuesday.

According to the sources, the authority has recommended an increase in the price of petrol by Rs6 per litre and an increase in the price of diesel by Rs3 per litre.

Petroleum Division will make the final decision today after consulting with Prime Minister.

If the petroleum levy is taken into account, the prices of petrol will surge by Rs37 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs34 per litre. Currently, the Petroleum levy on HSD is Rs3.61 per litre and MS Rs2.97 per litre.

Earlier this month, the Ministry of Finance approved to increase prices of petroleum products by up to Rs2.13 from June 16.

It had approved an increase of Rs2.1 per litre in the price of petrol and Rs1.79 in the price of high-speed diesel (HSD). Additionally, the prices of kerosene and light diesel oil were also increased by Rs1.89 per litre and Rs2.03, respectively.
