November 18, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan received four newly appointed foreign envoys on Tuesday, a development that signals Islamabad’s push to deepen economic, security and diplomatic engagement with Australia, Mauritius, Denmark and the United Arab Emirates.

The envoys presented their credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr, formally opening their tenures at a time when Pakistan is seeking wider foreign investment, trade partnerships and support on climate and regional security, said a press release issued.

President Zardari used the meetings to outline Pakistan’s priorities with each country, with Australia’s High Commissioner-designate Tim Kane, he pointed to expanding cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture and higher education.

Further noting the large number of Pakistani students enrolled in Australian universities and the influence of diaspora communities.

In talks with Mauritius High Commissioner-designate Munsoo Kurrimbaccus, Zardari highlighted long-standing cultural ties and sought deeper collaboration in trade, agriculture, investment and defence cooperation, areas viewed as increasingly important for Pakistan’s outreach to smaller but strategically positioned economies in the Indian Ocean region.

The President also met Denmark’s Ambassador-designate Maja Mortensen, discussing opportunities in technology, agriculture, dairy production and infrastructure, along with ongoing coordination at the UN Security Council.

Pakistan has been seeking international support for climate-resilient development, an area where Denmark has provided assistance.

In his discussion with UAE Ambassador-designate Salem Mohammed Salem Al Bawab Al Zaabi, Zardari reaffirmed the significance of Pakistan’s relationship with the Gulf state, one of its largest trading partners and a major source of remittances.

He called for expanded cooperation in trade, security and defence, stressing the pivotal role of Pakistan’s expatriate workforce in the UAE economy.

The ceremony included a Guard of Honour for the incoming diplomats. All four envoys begin their assignments as Pakistan attempts to stabilise its economy, attract foreign investment and strengthen regional alliances.
