Pakistan imports from China clock in at around $2bn

June 18, 2025 (MLN): Among Pakistan’s top trading partners, China remained the top source of imports for Pakistan during May, followed by U. A. E. Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and U. S. A..

According to the data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the total imports from China during the period under review went up by 13.4% to $1.7 billion, as compared to $1.5 billion recorded in the corresponding period of last year.

This was followed by U. A. E. Dubai, as Pakistan imported goods worth $660.57m from the country as compared to the imports of $507.12m recorded during the same month of the previous year, depicting a rise of 30.3%.

Saudi Arabia was the third on the list as Pakistan imported products worth $290.85m from the country. This figure was down by 4% from the imports of $302.89m in the same period last year.

U. S. A. was the fourth in line as imports came from the region during the aforementioned period were $244.49m, depicting an increase of 31.9% YoY.

Among other countries, Pakistan's imports from the Indonesia stood at $229.74m, marking a rise of 12.8% YoY, while imports from Brazil increased by 239.8% YoY to $219.89m.

Moreover, the imports from Qatar stood at $215.96m, down by 33.2% YoY.

On a monthly basis, the total imports from China increased by 5.6% MoM. Similarly, imports from U. A. E. Dubai increased by 13.7% MoM.

Moreover, imports from Saudi Arabia depicted a decline of 16.5% MoM.

Meanwhile, cumulatively, in 11MFY25, China remained the top source of imports, recording $14.89bn as against the total imports worth $12.15bn in 11MFY24.

Whereas, total imports from U. A. E. Dubai in 11MFY25 stood at $5.91bn, registering an increase of 32.4%.

Cumulatively, Saudi Arabia ranked as the third-largest contributor to Pakistan's imports, accounting for imports valued at $3.47bn in 11MFY25, compared to the imports worth $4.1bn in the same period last year
