October 17, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan's technological advancement is to be guided by clear strategies to foster
inclusion and resilience within the economy.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb highlighted
this while addressing the World Economic Forum’s Future of Growth Initiative
dialogue on “Leveraging Innovation for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth” in
Washington D.C, according to a press release.
The minister emphasized that Pakistan is actively integrating AI-led monitoring to enhance efficiency and productivity, particularly through the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) ongoing digital transformation.
He noted that AI-driven initiatives including the use of satellite imagery have proven successful in boosting smallholding farmers’ incomes in developing countries and improving service delivery across critical sectors.
Furthermore, innovation
and technology should not only drive economic growth but also ensure that
progress is equitable and sustainable, particularly for vulnerable communities.
At another event,
the JP Morgan Investment Seminar on Pakistan’s Economic and Monetary Policy
Outlook, the finance minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to
sustainable economic reforms and growth.
He briefed
participants on Pakistan’s recent fiscal, monetary, and external sector
developments, noting that a Staff Level Agreement had been reached with the
International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the second review of the Extended Fund
Facility (EFF) and the first review of the Resilience and Sustainability
Facility (RSF).
It was also underlined that Pakistan’s economy is showing positive momentum, supported by sound macroeconomic management, strengthened fiscal and external stability, and the implementation of effective reform measures.
