Pakistan, UAE sign MoUs to boost strategic ties

June 25, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have taken significant steps to expand their strategic partnership, signing multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and a protocol to enhance cooperation in investment, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy.

The agreements were finalized during the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission held in Abu Dhabi.

The session was co-chaired by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

In advance of the formal meeting, a working group session was led by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Tariq Bajwa and UAE’s Minister of State Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh.

During the session, both countries conducted a comprehensive review of their bilateral relationship, as per the press release issued.

They identified specific actions to boost collaboration in a wide range of areas, including trade, investment, aviation, railways, banking, culture, healthcare, higher education, energy, food security, defence, climate change, information technology, and manpower.

Emphasis was placed on strengthening institutional frameworks and improving inter-ministerial coordination.

A protocol was signed outlining procedural frameworks to guide future coordination, establish sectoral working groups, and facilitate reciprocal visits.

Key MoUs included agreements on mutual exemption of entry visa requirements and the creation of a joint task force to promote investments.

An agreement focused on artificial intelligence and the digital economy was also concluded.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of mutual respect and fraternity, with discussions extending to regional and global developments. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and stability.

Expressing satisfaction with the outcomes, both nations agreed to hold the 13th session of the Joint Ministerial Commission in Pakistan on dates to be mutually decided.

The session marked a milestone in reinforcing the deep-rooted, multifaceted relationship between Pakistan and the UAE, advancing their shared vision for a dynamic and forward-looking partnership.
