Pakistan, Saudi Arabia focus on AI, semiconductor training

June 27, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and digital infrastructure.

The development followed a high-level meeting between Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Saudi Minister for Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha.

The discussions included strategic collaboration on the Pakistan Digital Corridor to China and Central Asia, aimed at enhancing global connectivity. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation in AI and computing technologies.

Minister Shaza Fatima announced the approval of a Rs4.8 billion project under the PSDP to train over 7,000 Pakistani youth in semiconductor technologies and voiced support for Saudi Arabia’s National Semiconductor Hub (NSH), expressing confidence in the Kingdom’s tech leadership.

The meeting also covered collaboration under Saudi Arabia’s National Technology Development Program (NTDP) and fostering partnerships between Pakistani and Saudi firms, according to the press release issued.

Minister Shaza further highlighted Pakistan’s recent cybersecurity achievements and praised the role of its armed forces in geopolitical developments, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s continued growth and success.

The Saudi Minister conveyed best wishes for Pakistan’s progress under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership.
