Pakistan secures $3bn Saudi loan rollover

November 04, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan has secured a rollover of $3bn in loans from Saudi Arabia, providing support to the country’s external financing position, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters at Parliament House, Muhammad Aurangzeb said the matter had been deferred for an appropriate period following discussions between the two countries.

He said he had held a productive meeting with his Saudi counterpart on the issue, expressing confidence in the strong bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The finance minister added that Pakistan did not currently require any additional financial assistance from Saudi Arabia.

He said the country’s foreign exchange reserves were sufficient to cover three months of imports, while the government was working to avoid the concentration of external debt repayments in any particular year.

Muhammad Aurangzeb noted that Pakistan had annual Eurobond repayments of approximately 1.5 billion euros and was making efforts to ensure these obligations did not create financial difficulties for future governments.

The IMF Executive Board is expected to hold a meeting next month, although no date or time has been scheduled so far.
