November 05, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan has secured assurances for the rollover of $7.3bn in loans from Saudi Arabia, China and Kuwait, providing support to the country's external financing position for the current fiscal year.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Wednesday confirmed that Pakistan had secured a rollover of $3bn in loans from Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to reporters at Parliament House, Muhammad Aurangzeb said the matter concerning the Saudi loan had been deferred for an appropriate period following discussions between the two countries. He added that Pakistan did not currently require any additional financial support from Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, China has assured Pakistan of rolling over $4bn in loans, while Kuwait will extend a rollover of $300m, according to sources in the Finance Ministry.

The $4bn Chinese loan is due for rollover in March 2027, while loans from China, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are expected to be rolled over for approximately one year, the sources said.

Pakistan is expecting total loan rollovers of $7.3bn from the three countries to help meet its external financing requirements.

Muhammad Aurangzeb has also said that Pakistan expects to receive $1.21bn from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in December.

The expected IMF disbursement, alongside the loan rollovers, will help Pakistan manage its external financing requirements amid substantial debt repayment obligations.

Pakistan faces external payments of approximately $21bn during the current fiscal year, including $7.3 billion expected to be covered through loan rollovers.
