October 30, 2025 (MLN):  Pakistan and Canada have agreed to enhance bilateral trade and investment cooperation, focusing on key sectors such as mining, agriculture, information technology, renewable energy, and skill development.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and the Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Mr. Tarik Ali Khan, at the Ministry of Commerce, said a press release issued today.

During the meeting, the Canadian High Commissioner highlighted Canada’s strategy to diversify its trade markets across Asia, identifying Pakistan as a promising emerging market for Canadian exports, including canola oil, soybean, and pulses.

He informed the Minister that Canada will host three major expos in the coming months the PDAC Convention for the mining sector in March, Crops Canada Show for the agriculture sector in April, and Collision for the IT and tech sector in Toronto.

He encouraged Pakistan’s participation in these events to explore partnerships and strengthen business-to-business linkages.

Minister Jam Kamal Khan emphasized Pakistan’s growing focus on value addition in food, livestock, and halal-certified products, noting the country’s authenticity and international credibility in halal production.

He invited Canadian companies to participate in the Pakistan Food & Agriculture Expo 2025, scheduled for November 25 in Karachi, which will showcase Pakistan’s agri-based and processed food potential.

The Minister also emphasize Pakistan’s rapid digital transformation, progress in e-commerce and IT exports, and the rise of AI-based fintech startups.

He highlighted ongoing collaborations with global tech giants such as Meta and Google that have expanded Pakistan’s digital ecosystem.

Both sides expressed a strong desire to collaborate on renewable energy initiatives, SME development, and human resource exchange programs.

The Canadian High Commissioner praised Pakistan’s trade-friendly policies, industrial growth, and the valuable contribution of the 300,000-strong Pakistani diaspora in Canada  including members of the Canadian Parliament  in strengthening bilateral ties.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to deepen economic relations, promote joint ventures, and encourage participation in trade expos and sector-specific events in both countries.
