February 11, 2021 (MLN): The KSE-100 index ended the trading session on Thursday with a 588.77 point or 1.26 percent decline to close at 46,055.52.
Despite a lackluster performance, today’s session was one of the few memorable ones as the benchmark index saw the second-highest volume traded in the history of PSX @ 1,119 million shares, with the highest volume being recorded on April 16, 2004.
Nearly 353 million shares of WTL were traded today, allowing the company to once again lead the charts after yesterday’s noteworthy performance. It is interesting to note that Worldcall Telecom today issued a statement wherein it unequivocally denied fake and misleading information being spread through social media platforms, which according to the notification, was completely detrimental for the company.
The Index traded in a range of 972.79 points or 2.09 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 46,937.45 and a low of 45,964.66.
Of the 96 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 18 closed up 76 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 366.03 million shares.
Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 152 points, Technology & Communication with 90 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 76 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 73 points and Power Generation & Distribution with 64 points.
The most points taken off the index was by TRG which stripped the index of 65 points followed by PSO with 41 points, HBL with 38 points, UBL with 34 points and HUBC with 26 points.
Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 67 points, Refinery with 3 points, Textile Composite with 2 points and Close - End Mutual Fund with 1 points.
The most points added to the index was by DGKC which contributed 31 points followed by KOHC with 20 points, LUCK with 9 points, ANL with 7 points and FCCL with 6 points.
All Share Volume increased by 112.91 Million to 1124.82 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.118.01 Billion.
Total companies traded were 415 compared to 412 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 92 closed up, 313 closed down while 10 remained unchanged.
Total trades increased by 34,989 to 231,179.
Value Traded increased by 8.30 Billion to Rs.35.60 Billion
