PSX Closing Bell: Strongly in Green

September 08, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 156,087.30, showing an increase of 1,810.11 points or 1.17%.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 156,199.28 (+1,922.09) and a low of 154,944.87 (+667.68) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 492.41 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 58 closed up, 41 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Reacting to the development, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the index crossing the historic 156,000 level, terming it a reflection of investor and business community confidence in the government’s economic policies.

He added that the surge in the PSX highlights the positive momentum in Pakistan’s economy and signals growing international trust in its markets.

Top gainers during the day were SNGP (+9.62%), MUGHAL (+8.49%), INIL (+7.28%), PAEL (+7.19%), and HUBC (+5.79%).

On the other hand, top losers were AGL (-4.07%), EFUG (-3.38%), TRG (-2.40%), GADT (-1.89%), and TGL (-1.87%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were ENGROH (+404.51pts), HUBC (+329.55pts), LUCK (+183.50pts), MARI (+113.93pts), and SNGP (+112.43pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-145.91pts), SYS (-25.39pts), FCCL (-19.38pts), TRG (-17.08pts), and TGL (-11.86pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+422.34pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+354.50pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+252.94pts), Cement (+188.55pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+162.51pts).

While the index was let down by Chemical (-15.97pts), Glass & Ceramics (-13.75pts), Technology & Communication (-13.26pts), Automobile Assembler (-12.64pts), and Property (-8.78pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 95,050.71 with a net gain of 702.53 points or 0.74%.

Total market volume was 1,126.27 million shares compared to 1,078.41m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs62.30 billion showing an increase of Rs2.35bn.

There were 518,576 trades reported in 482 companies with 229 closing up, 228 closing down, and 25 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 30,460 points or 24.25% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 40,960 points or 35.58% so far this calendar year.
