PSX Closing Bell: Points in the Green

September 01, 2025 (MLN): The market kicked off the month on a positive note, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index closing Monday’s session at 149,971.12, up 1,353.35 points or 0.91%.

The index traded in a range of 1,565.80 points showing an intraday high of 150,066.00 (+1,448.23) and a low of 148,500.20 (-117.57) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 511.82 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 67 closed up, 32 closed down, while 1 was unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were BOP (+10.02%), PAEL (+10.01%), EPCL (+9.50%), ISL (+8.21%), and FCCL (+7.39%).

On the other hand, top losers were PKGP (-6.33%), AGL (-4.24%), IBFL (-4.15%), PGLC (-3.63%), and UPFL (-2.74%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were LUCK (+268.17pts), OGDC (+130.06pts), FCCL (+118.17pts), BAHL (+88.76pts), and NBP (+86.96pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (-79.31pts), SYS (-78.33pts), PKGP (-39.37pts), BAFL (-24.60pts), and HINOON (-20.26pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Cement (+488.29pts), Commercial Banks (+445.21pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+195.83pts), Engineering (+86.35pts), and Cable & Electrical Goods (+81.72pts).

While the index was let down by Fertilizer (-50.98pts), Technology & Communication (-50.70pts), Automobile Assembler (-47.88pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-32.72pts), and Food & Personal Care Products (-7.79pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 92,452.75 with a net gain of 767.68 points or 0.84%.

Total market volume was 1,183.05 million shares compared to 1,342.20m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs48.85 billion showing a decrease of Rs3.46bn.

There were 447,171 trades reported in 480 companies with 272 closing up, 175 closing down, and 33 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 24,344 points or 19.38% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 34,844 points or 30.27% so far this calendar year.
