August 5, 2021 (MLN): The capital market on Thursday opened on a positive note but due to the absence of fresh positive triggers it witnessed volatile swings throughout the day. The KSE-100 index went up by around 107 points in the morning, however, near the close of the trading session, the market witnessed profit booking which brought the index down by 149 points to settle at 47,640.88.

The Index traded in a range of 312.97 points or 0.65 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 47,896.84 and a low of 47,583.87.

Of the 98 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 35 closed up 62 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 207.13 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Miscellaneous with 36 points, Cement with 22 points, Technology & Communication with 20 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 17 points and Pharmaceuticals with 14 points.

The most points taken off the index was by PSEL which stripped the index of 36 points followed by SYS with 15 points, TRG with 13 points, BAHL with 10 points and SNGP with 10 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Automobile Assembler with 12 points, Insurance with 10 points, Textile Spinning with 5 points, Chemical with 2 points and Close - End Mutual Fund with 1 points.

The most points added to the index was by JLICL which contributed 9 points followed by MTL with 9 points, PTC with 8 points, MEBL with 6 points and HMB with 5 points.

All Share Volume increased by 13.86 Million to 546.81 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.7.22 Billion.

Total companies traded were 492 compared to 492 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 212 closed up, 263 closed down while 17 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 13,250 to 149,309.

Value Traded increased by 0.22 Billion to Rs.15.37 Billion
