PSX Closing Bell: A Step Closer to the Top

August 11, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 146,929.84, showing an increase of 1,547.05 points or 1.06%.
The index traded in a range of 1,746.68 points showing an intraday high of 147,005.17 (+1,622.38) and a low of 145,258.49 (-124.30) points.
Total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 299.28 million shares.
Going forward, progress on circular debt resolution could further fuel the bulls’ upward momentum. That said, some consolidation or a mild correction remains possible, Ali Najib, Deputy Head of Trading at Arif Habib Limited told Mettis Global.
In case of a pullback, 145,000 is expected to serve as the first support, followed by 143,000, while 150,000 stands as the next key resistance, he added.
Of the 100 index companies 62 closed up, 37 closed down, while 1 was unchanged.
Top gainers during the day were THALL (+10.00%), PGLC (+9.78%), MARI (+7.68%), FABL (+6.15%), and HMB (+5.21%).
On the other hand, top losers were BNWM (-4.29%), PSEL (-3.60%), UPFL (-2.75%), GADT (-2.70%), and YOUW (-2.68%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were MARI (+383.16pts), BAHL (+193.32pts), OGDC (+143.19pts), MEBL (+120.23pts), and MCB (+119.64pts).
Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were EFERT (-42.98pts), SYS (-35.23pts), ENGROH (-32.35pts), PSEL (-30.26pts), and FFC (-28.10pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+795.48pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+561.04pts), Cement (+112.69pts), Automobile Parts & Accessories (+61.94pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (+37.93pts).
While the index was let down by Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-40.91pts), Technology & Communication (-33.71pts), Miscellaneous (-31.17pts), Fertilizer (-22.87pts), and Glass & Ceramics (-21.17pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 90,792.98 with a net gain of 968.38 points or 1.08%.
Total market volume was 611.21 million shares compared to 548.05m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs44.00 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.48bn.
There were 353,344 trades reported in 479 companies with 242 closing up, 209 closing down, and 28 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 21,303 points or 16.96% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 31,803 points or 27.62% so far this calendar year.
