PKR falls 74 paisa per USD in a week

June 20, 2025 (MLN): Over the past week, the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) lost 74 paisa or 0.26% against the US Dollar. The exchange rate rose from PKR 283.64 per USD on June 19 to PKR 283.7 on June 20, 2025.

Over the past month, the currency has weakened by Rs1.78 or 0.63%. Since the start of the fiscal year, the PKR has depreciated by 1.89%, while the calendar year-to-date (CYTD) decline stands at 1.82%.

The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 6.23 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 283.70 per USD, compared to previous closing of 283.64.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 283.5 and a low (ask) of 285.75. 

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 284.00 for buying and 285.70 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 1.43 rupees or 0.44% against the Euro, closing at 326.69 compared to the previous value of 325.25.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 1.90 rupees or 0.50% to 382.31 compared to 380.41 a day ago.

The local unit decreased 1.26 rupees or 0.37% against Swiss franc to close at 347.53.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 0.07 paisa or 0.04% to close the session at 1.9515 versus 1.9522 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee weakened 4.88 paisa or 0.12% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.49 from 39.44.

The local currency gained by 0.35 paisa or 0.00% against Saudi Riyal to 75.60. While it fell by 1.48 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.25.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 5.36 rupees or 1.89%. While it has weakened 5.15 rupees or 1.82% so far this calendar year.
