Macpac Films profit falls 67%

September 01, 2025 (MLN) : Macpac Films Limited (PSX: MACFL) shared its financial results for the year ended June 30, 2025, posting a profit after tax of Rs85.28m (EPS: Rs1.44), down 66.9% compared to Rs257.72m (EPS: Rs4.35) reported in FY24.

The company’s revenue increased by 6.7% to Rs5.99bn in FY25 from Rs5.62bn last year. However, the benefit of higher sales was offset as the cost of sales surged 13% to Rs5.30bn, squeezing margins. Consequently, gross profit dropped 25.4% to Rs691m against Rs926m in FY24.

Administrative expenses rose 22.4% to Rs370m, while distribution and marketing expenses increased 12.2% to Rs176m. Other operating expenses eased slightly to Rs28m, whereas the company booked an impairment reversal of Rs21.1m compared to a charge of Rs0.15m last year.

Operating profit fell sharply by 68.4% to Rs138m from Rs436m in FY24. Finance costs declined by 18.9% to Rs110m, while other income slipped 26% to Rs87m.

Profit before tax stood at Rs116m, down 72.4% from Rs419m last year. After accounting for taxation of Rs1842m and levy of Rs48.7m, the company’s net profit settled at Rs85.28m, compared to Rs257.72m in FY24.
