Govt recognizes firms with 30 million turnover as micro enterprises

August 6, 2025 (MLN): The Government has granted companies with an annual turnover of up to 30 million rupees the status of micro enterprises, bringing them under the scope of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA).

A draft Women Entrepreneurship Policy has also been finalized and will soon be presented to the Federal Cabinet for approval, alongside the planned launch of a dedicated digital portal for SMEDA women entrepreneurs.

This was shared during a meeting of the Steering Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, said a press release issued yesterday.

The meeting reviewed progress on ongoing reforms and initiatives aimed at boosting the SME sector across the country.

The Prime Minister said that small and medium enterprises play a vital role in the development of the national economy and emphasized the government's commitment to supporting and facilitating them.

He directed relevant authorities to accelerate the implementation of SME-friendly policies and ensure ease of doing business for small entrepreneurs.

The committee was briefed on structural reforms within SMEDA, policy enhancements, and new support measures introduced to empower SMEs.
