Govt orders power policy to boost industrial production

October 20, 2025 (MLN): The government has directed the Power Division to formulate effective policy recommendations aimed at enhancing domestic industrial production and maximizing the use of the country’s electricity resources.

Chairing the meeting on power sector reforms, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said electricity production should be effectively utilized to increase the output of agricultural and industrial goods, APP reported.

He also instructed all institutions involved in industrial production to take comprehensive measures to facilitate investors and industrialists.

During the session, the prime minister was briefed on a proposed reform package focusing on the efficient and comprehensive utilization of the country’s power resources.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Advisor on Industries Haroon Akhtar, and other senior officials.
