Fertilizer offtake increases 88% YoY in March 2026

April 15, 2026 (MLN):  Fertilizer consumption in Pakistan witnessed strong performance in March 2026, as overall nutrient offtake increased by 88% year-on-year to 414,000 tonnes, according to the latest Monthly Fertilizer Review released by the National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC).

In March, urea offtake was at 569,000 tonnes, registering an increase of 85.6% compared to the same month last year.

 On the other hand, DAP consumption increased by 209.6%, to 150,000 tonnes.

Nutrient-wise, nitrogen offtake increased by 80.6%, potash by 39.4% and phosphate by 129.6%.

Cumulative nutrient offtake during Rabi 2025-26 (Oct-Mar) was 2,573,000 tonnes, which increased by 10.7% over Rabi 2024-25. Nitrogen, phosphate and potash offtake increased by 13.3, 0.7 and 25.5%, respectively.

Total domestic fertilizer production during March 2026 was 783,000 tonnes. Urea and DAP production was 527,000 and 75,000 tonnes, respectively. Production of other products i.e. NP, CAN, SSP, SOP and NPKs was 84,000, 77,000, 9,600, 7,000 and 3,500 tonnes, respectively.

Regionally, Urea offtake during March 2026 increased by 73.4, 263.2, 63 and 10% in Punjab, Sindh, KP and AJK, respectively while its offtake decreased by 4.6% in Balochistan over March last year.

During March 2026, DAP offtake increased by 259, 146 and 91% in Punjab, Sindh and KP, respectively while its oftake decreased by 10% in Balochistan, over March previous year.

On the pricing front, domestic fertilizer prices of all  products except SOP increased slightly. Urea (Sona) increased by 0.6% to Rs. 4,455 per 50 kg bag, other urea brands went up by 1% and prices of DAP, NP, CAN increased by 1.2, 0.6, 1.5 respectively, while SOP decreased by 1%.

Internationally, urea and DAP prices went up in key markets such as China and Middle East.
