November 06, 2025 (MLN):  China is to build the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) on high standards as part of its efforts to promote high-level opening up and deepen reform.

President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks while hearing a work report in Sanya, in the southern island province of Hainan, APP reported.

He said the construction of the Hainan FTP is a major policy decision by the CPC Central Committee aimed at comprehensively deepening reform and opening up in the new era.

President Xi called for thorough implementation of the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and urged close coordination, proactive actions, and sustained efforts to meet the FTP’s development goals.

The Hainan FTP will officially launch island-wide special customs operations on December 18 this year an important milestone that Xi said demonstrates China’s determination to expand high-standard opening up and contribute to the development of an open world economy.
