Banks to observe extended hours for tax collection on May 29-30

May 28, 2026 (MLN): Banks across Pakistan will remain open for extended hours on Friday and Saturday, May 29 and 30, 2026, to facilitate over-the-counter payment of government duties and taxes, following a request by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

On Friday, May 29, all branches of commercial banks will observe extended working hours until 5:30 P.M. Saturday-opening branches will remain open from 9:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. on May 30, 2026, said a press release issued.

Banks have also been directed to keep their concerned branches open on May 30 for as long as required to facilitate Special Clearing for government transactions conducted by NIFT.

Additionally, banks are advised to ensure uninterrupted availability of online payment channels including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms to enable seamless online payment of government duties and taxes.
