Pakistan moves to strengthen investment, regional connectivity

November 28, 2025 (MLN): The Board of Investment (BOI) has strengthened Pakistan’s efforts to attract investment, advance policy reforms, and enhance economic cooperation through its latest engagement with the Pakistan Regional Economic Forum (PREF).

The discussions focused on enhancing public-private partnerships and opening new investment avenues in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and regional trade.

Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh welcomed the proposals and highlighted the government’s commitment to facilitating investors through improved regulatory frameworks and pro-business policies.

The PREF delegation included Vice Admiral (R) Hisham Khan, senior economist and former BOI chairman Haroon Sharif, former HUBCO CEO Khalid Mansoor, and Ambassador (R) Naghmana A. Hashim. PREF is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

Officials emphasized that closer collaboration between BOI and industry stakeholders is crucial to attracting both foreign and domestic investment, supporting Pakistan’s economic growth targets, and strengthening regional connectivity.
