The PBS released the Inflation figures for March, following is the summary of their release.
CPI inflation, General increased by 3.9% on year-on-year basis in March 2016 as compared to an increase 4.0% in the previous month and 2.5% in March 2015. On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.15% in March 2016 as compared to decrease of 0.3% in the previous month and increase of 0.2% in March 2015.
Core inflation measured by non-food non-energy CPI (Core NFNE) increased by 4.7% on (YoY) basis in March 2016 as compared to increase 4.5% in the previous month and 5.9% in March 2015. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.2% in March 2016 as compared to increased of 0.2% in previous month, and increase of 0.1% in March 2015.
Core inflation, measured by 20% weighted trimmed mean CPI (Core Trimmed) increased by 3.8% on (YoY) basis in March 2016 as compared to 3.6% in the previous month and by 3.8% in March 2015. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.2% in March 2016 as compared to increase of 0.1% in the previous month and 0.0% in March 2015.
SPI inflation on YoY increased by 3.5% in March 2016 as compared to increase of 3.6% a month earlier and decrease of 1.9% in March 2015. On MoM basis, it decreased by 0.2% in March 2016 as compared to a decrease of 0.5% a month earlier and increase of 0.0% in March 2015.
WPI inflation on YoY basis increased by 0.2% in March 2016 as compared to increase of 0.6% a month earlier and a decrease of 3.7% in March 2015. WPI inflation on MoM basis decreased by 0.4% in March 2016 as compared to decrease of 0.6% a month earlier and while it was 0.0% in March 2015.
