Weekly SPI stays flat

December 09, 2022 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group stayed flat during the week ended December 08, 2022, while the SPI increased by 30.66% compared to the corresponding period from last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 218.52 compared to 218.51 on December 01, 2022, while the index was recorded at 167.24 a year ago, on December 09, 2021

Out of the 51 monitored items, the average price of 24 items increased, 8 items decreased whereas 19 items registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed a mixed trend with SPI ranging between -0.02% and 0.01%.

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 0% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 0.01%.

On a yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 28.85% and 31.78%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 28.85% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 30.9%.

The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.2544 per 50 kg bag which is 1.39% higher than last week’s price and 33.19% higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, the average Cement price was recorded at Rs.1038 per 50 kg bag, which is 0.29% lower than the previous week and 39.89% higher than prices last year.
