Weekly SPI increases by 1.21%

October 08, 2021 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group increased by 1.21% during the week ended Oct 07, 2021, while the SPI increased by 12.94% compared to the corresponding period from last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 158.94 compared to 157.04 on Sep 30, 2021, while the index was recorded at 140.73 a year ago, on Oct 08, 2020

Out of the 51 monitored items, the average price of 22 items increased, 8 items decreased whereas 21 items registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 0.88% and 1.31%.

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 0.88% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 1.31%.

On a yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 11.56% and 14.24%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 14.24% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 13.07%.

The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.1,822 per 50 kg bag which is 0.54% higher than last week’s price and 7.49% higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, the average Cement price was recorded at Rs.701 per 50 kg bag, 3.42% higher than the previous week and 22.7% higher than prices last year.
