Weekly SPI increases by 0.18 percent

Jul 30, 2019 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group increased by 0.18% during the week ended Jul 25, 2019 while the SPI increased by 15.59% compared to the corresponding period from last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 264.88 compared to 264.4 on Jul 18, 2019 while the index was recorded at 229.16 a year ago, on Jul 26, 2018

Out of the 53 monitored items, the average price of 19 items increased, 10 items decreased whereas 24 items registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 0.15% and 0.23%.

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 0.23% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 0.15%.

On a yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 12.76% and 18.18%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 12.76% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 18.18%.

The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.1891 per 50 kg bag which is 1.46% lower than last week’s price and 14.75% higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, average Cement price was recorded at Rs.597 per 50 kg bag, which is 3.24% lower than the previous week and 2.23% higher than prices last year.
