Weekly SPI decreases by 0.16 percent

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, weekly SPI decreased by 0.16 percent compared to the previous week (Mar 22, 2018) and decreased by 2.00 percent compared to the corresponding week (Mar 30, 2017) from the previous year.

Of the 53 items monitored, the prices of 10 items registered an increase, 13 decreased while 30 remained unchanged.

Of the items registering an increase in the prices food group dominated due to seasonal effects on the demand and supply dynamics. Amongst the notable food items the 1kg of tomatoes, bananas, surage refined, beef with bone, red chilly powder, tea, vegetable ghee, mutton, soap and LPG Cylinder posted an uptick.

On the flipside, the prices of chicken farm, onoions, eggs, garlic, pulse mash, gur, potatoes, pulse gram, wheat flour, pulse moong, wheat, mustard oil and pulse masoor registered a decline.

Furthermore, prices of the rest of the 34 items on under observations remained relatively unchanged.
