April 09, 2025 (MLN): The recent economic strides in US-Pakistan trade, especially the revival of US soybean exports to Pakistan, were underscored by Eric Meyer.

“Four vessels carrying more than 260,000 tons of soybeans have arrived over the last few weeks. It’s a win-win for US exporters and for Pakistanis alike,” Meyer stated during the two-day Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum 2025 (PIMF25).

He noted that the core objective of the US delegation’s visit is to enhance cooperation in the minerals sector and strengthen bilateral trade relations.

Meyer expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s hospitality and acknowledged the country's efforts to attract investment in the mineral industry during his visit to Islamabad.

Meyer further stated that he was attending the forum to support Pakistan’s ambitions to draw international investors into its critical minerals sector.

“I commend Pakistan for convening the Minerals Investment Forum and for taking steps to ensure a level playing field for investors,” he said, highlighting the crucial role of critical minerals in powering modern technologies.

Emphasising the importance of resource security, he noted that critical minerals are vital inputs for essential technologies, adding that former President Donald Trump had also recognised the strategic importance of securing the United States’ mineral future.

He also pointed to the strong foundation of US-Pakistan ties rooted in people-to-people connections, as per the press release.

“So many of you have studied in the United States, participated in our exchange programmes, and have family, friends, and business partners in the US,” he remarked.

Meyer concluded by reaffirming America's commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan, saying the United States is eager to lead efforts in deepening the bilateral partnership.
